O mundo inteiro ficou chocado, traumatizado.
Eu me recusei a acreditar.

War against mess
Frankly, I admire those rare people who have a house clean and tidy without the aid of domestic employees. Shiny floor, clean sink, arranged papers and a good smell that we can not identify exactly what it is. A mixture of waxes, oils, perfumes and incense. Smell of freshly drawn white sheets of clothesline. Smell of rain, smell of snow.
Obviously, I am not referring to those clean places that are clean by a lack of life. Where there are people, there is mess. Many houses are clean and neat due to loneliness. There is no one there. I'm referring to places full of life and still clean and organized, without any paid cleaning team to get everything in order.
The truth is that the mess attracts even more mess. If an environment is in complete disorder, we do everything in a sloppy way and things will worsen further. And if everything is in order, we do everything carefully.
My father always said that if the floor is clean, the whole house is clean. In our personal war against our own mess, we know very well that when we clear the floor, the half way is done. The mess is already weakened.
The problem is that we have too many things. Lots of objects that end up covering a large part of the space, and making difficult to get the cleaning done. It is impossible to use all the objects we have. There are always those things in a forgotten corner, never dressed clothes, and all sorts of useless stuff. It is a good habit of collecting the material and give them away or sell. You should have no attachment, right? Get rid of stuff is the halfway stage.
In all homes there are places, usually corners that no one touch. It seems that they are there just to collect dust and webs. In my kitchen there was a corner like that. I put the stove in this corner and ended up the problem. Now that corner has become a bustling area.
Once a person told me that if we do not control the mess, then the mess will control us. Indeed, if we close our eyes to the widespread chaos, comes a time when we could not do anything.
Years ago, when I was 18 years old and worked at IBM, I learned to use the technique of clean table. It is this: after you job is done, clean the table. It is simple. The same technique in another format is what I learned when I was 15 years old and was pioneer. At the end of a camp, we had to leave the place exactly as we found.
Now apply it to the bathroom: after bathing, leave the bathroom in order. And the kitchen: After the meal, leave the kitchen as it was before. The room: when turning off the tv, leave the room tidy. And so on.
Cats and dogs also make an infernal mess. Cats get to tip everything and the dogs destroy what they can. And they are not able of using the toilet. But I will talk about this in another post.
What is important is that when we have in a clean and tidy house, or winning the mess (even temporarily), we won a wonderful prize: the motivation. We get a pleasure in everything we do. We are most happy. This is the point.

Canteiros, jardins, terrenos baldios, casas abandonadas, etc.

10 Ways to find a lost cat
1. Look first in places where he may have accidentally been trapped. Basements, closets, warehouses, attics, bathrooms, etc. Look in the roof, on top of trees, below the bushes. Look for places where there may be small animals that they like to hunt. Your cat may be hunting. Gardens, vacant lots, abandoned houses, etc.. Look underneath the car, behind wheels.
2. Talk to people, neighbors, traders, especially to children. Few adults see the presence of a cat, but a child will tell you if a cat was passing in a certain place. Talk a lot with all the people you meet, even strangers. Tell stories, create a bond between the person and your cat. She may be interested to find it too.
3. Place ads with photos everywhere you can. Do not forget to include your phone on the adress. Type with large, legible font. If your pet has some marks, stains that can identify him, describe it well. Take care of their posters. If someone took them off, glue again.
4. Look for your cat at night, after the 8 pm, which is usually the time they leave their hiding and show up. You can have some cat food in your hands that he likes. If you have car, also drive around looking for the cat, because cats know the sound of the engine of your car. You can also take something that glow in the dark, a light you can move, something that attracts him.
5. Try to identify places where there are other cats. Find cat rescue people or who have many cats at home. Maybe your cat was rescued by someone.
6. Offer a reward, but be alert about traps and assaults. If you have to meet someone who claims to have seen your cat, tell a relative or friend about it. Get someone to go with you to meet the person, but keeping some distance.
7. Seek veterinary clinics and pet shops. Leave your name and phone number in those places. Maybe someone found your cat and put an ad in these places.
8. Visit the shelters and centers of rescuing pets. Maybe your cat is there.
9. Search the schools, talk with students at the time of entry and exit. Talk to merchants, owners of bars, restaurants, traillers, markets, which often feed the lost pets. Talk to the street-sweeper, with the post officer, with the hawk in your neighborhood.
10. Use the Internet to announce the disappearance of your cat. Leave ads in local communities. Do not forget to tell where you are, your phone number and leave your email address available. Follow the answers you get.
In September 2008, I took my cat Preto to vaccinate during the vaccination campaign in my neighborhood. The vaccine was being given outdoors, in front of a shop. I went by car and the Preto was in the transport box. It was the first time I took a cat to vaccinate outside.
Preto is very quiet, so I thought there would be no problem to get him out of the box to take the vaccine, but I was wrong. Once out of the box, Preto struggled to get out my arms, and jumped on the sidewalk, running like crazy, and came in somewhere in that street. It was so fast that I didn’t see where he went.
The residents of the place even tried to help me looking for him in garages and backyards, but we didn’t get to find him. I returned home with a empty transport box and tears in my eyes. When I came home and told what had happened, everybody left to try to find my cat, but they didn’t get too. That day I went from 1 pm until almost 11 pm looking for Preto.
Next morning, I made a poster, took copies and glued on poles in the street where the cat had disappeared, walked and talked a lot with people. A neighbor has offered to make copies of all posters with a picture of Preto. I kept talking with people who were on the street. I didn’t simply ask if they had seen the cat. I told stories about him, about his likes and dislikes. In the end, people felt as if they knew the cat too. I did talk a lot with the kids and they were organized in effort to help me find Preto. But it was another day and I didn’t get to find Preto.
If he had left the house with his own legs, maybe I had more hope to see him back home. But I took him in the car away from home and was there that he did scape. In a completely strange place, he had not the slightest chance to get back on his own.
N ext day, I was sad when I saw that almost all the posters weren’t out there anymore. So, I made more copies and glued the posters again. I tried to map the region. With Google Earth open, tried to imagine the likely path that my cat might have gone. I returned to the place, walked several blocks until to get another neighborhood, always talking to all the people around. I was even becoming known in that place, but people had given up to help me look for my cat.
On the fourth night, raining a lot, I kept me walking with an umbrella in my hands, all wet, but I began to doubt whether all that effort made sense. My legs were hurting so much that seemed I had been dancing the 4 nights of carnival. Yet, a person called saying that he had seen the cat, but it was hoax. I tried to meet this person, but no sign of the person or the cat.
On the fifth day, I was scheduled to do a routine blood test early in the morning. I left home at 6 o'clock in the morning but when I arrived at Brazil Avenue, the tire of my car got flat. For those who do not know, the Brazil Avenue is the main route of entry to Rio de Janeiro, the largest and most intense traffic. My spare tire was also flat and all stores were still closed. There was nobody to help. I flagged the car and got out walking looking for a gas station. When I found a gas station, away from the car, the tire gauge was not working ... I continued walking ...
That was when I received a call on my cell: someone had found my cat! A voice of a woman said that my cat was ill, was debating in the street, trying to get up and she was trying to keep the dogs away.
I was stressed. I asked her for God to take care of him until I get there. She doubted that the cat in question was mine, but I said 'That's him! Yes, it is him! " And I was still walking on Brazil Avenue, and the car with the flat tire far away from me. I was willing to leave the car there and take a van, but I thought it would take more time. I had to fix that tire fast! I tried to call neighbors and relatives to see if someone else could get my cat, but nobody answered the phone that time of morning.
I was completely dizzy in fasting because of the blood test and walking very fast. Back to the car, the store in front and was opening. The tire was repaired quickly and I went out literally flying to the place where my cat was found.
When I got there, my cat seemed a dirty cloth at street. He was all dirty dry sludge. I didn’t know if he was hurt or if he had any broken bones. He had just one side of the mouth open, tongue out, had involuntary movements, spasms, which made me think about some problem in the brain or poisoning. I was afraid to get him and worsen his condition. Unfortunately we have no ambulance or paramedics who can help a cat. If we had it, I didn’t know. I was afraid to leave him there to find a service like this and he dies. So I got him, I put in the car and ran to the veterinarian.
Fortunately, my cat Preto had no bruise or broken bone. It was just thirsty and hungry. He was dying of thirst. He was hospitalized during 3 days in serum and then returned home, he was so thin, but regained the weight later.
And this is the story of the scape and the return of my cat Preto.
My granddaughter Isabela, which is just 4 years old, is so cute. Another day she came from the backyard, crying and showing her leg because she got an ant's bite. Then, perhaps wanting to show the "seriousness" of the situation, Isabela said:
"It was the ant of the dengue!”
PS ( to foreign readers): the dengue is a serious disease that comes from the mosquito in tropical areas. There is no “ant” of the dengue. That was Isabela's creation!
