Canteiros, jardins, terrenos baldios, casas abandonadas, etc.

10 Ways to find a lost cat
1. Look first in places where he may have accidentally been trapped. Basements, closets, warehouses, attics, bathrooms, etc. Look in the roof, on top of trees, below the bushes. Look for places where there may be small animals that they like to hunt. Your cat may be hunting. Gardens, vacant lots, abandoned houses, etc.. Look underneath the car, behind wheels.
2. Talk to people, neighbors, traders, especially to children. Few adults see the presence of a cat, but a child will tell you if a cat was passing in a certain place. Talk a lot with all the people you meet, even strangers. Tell stories, create a bond between the person and your cat. She may be interested to find it too.
3. Place ads with photos everywhere you can. Do not forget to include your phone on the adress. Type with large, legible font. If your pet has some marks, stains that can identify him, describe it well. Take care of their posters. If someone took them off, glue again.
4. Look for your cat at night, after the 8 pm, which is usually the time they leave their hiding and show up. You can have some cat food in your hands that he likes. If you have car, also drive around looking for the cat, because cats know the sound of the engine of your car. You can also take something that glow in the dark, a light you can move, something that attracts him.
5. Try to identify places where there are other cats. Find cat rescue people or who have many cats at home. Maybe your cat was rescued by someone.
6. Offer a reward, but be alert about traps and assaults. If you have to meet someone who claims to have seen your cat, tell a relative or friend about it. Get someone to go with you to meet the person, but keeping some distance.
7. Seek veterinary clinics and pet shops. Leave your name and phone number in those places. Maybe someone found your cat and put an ad in these places.
8. Visit the shelters and centers of rescuing pets. Maybe your cat is there.
9. Search the schools, talk with students at the time of entry and exit. Talk to merchants, owners of bars, restaurants, traillers, markets, which often feed the lost pets. Talk to the street-sweeper, with the post officer, with the hawk in your neighborhood.
10. Use the Internet to announce the disappearance of your cat. Leave ads in local communities. Do not forget to tell where you are, your phone number and leave your email address available. Follow the answers you get.

My cat Preto loves stay in my lap. The problem is that he is heavy. Preto speaks several words in the language of cats, of course. When he sees me, he says "Grrrrrrruuu" I think this is my name.
Preto loves milk. When I take the path to the kitchen, he run in front of me and if I eat something, he always wants to eat before me.
He eats all time. He always wants a new food. He doesn’t like “old” food, even if the the “old” food has been left by him 5 minutes before.
Last night Preto threw all my papers on the floor. He loves sleeping on my work and sit in front of my computer monitor.
Preto likes to sleep in a chair on the balcony. He likes to watch me and take care of all my movements. He gets bored when I'm busy and can’t be with him.
His tail looks like a plume and when he walks his tail is vertical. Someone told me that this is a sign that the cat is happy.
Preto is a great hunter. There is no one faster than him. He is able to climb a wall in seconds, it is as if he could run vertically.
Preto is an unforgettable cat.

In these last days, since my last post, I was so busy that I couldn’t even write a line. Only now I finished some tasks and can post again..
During the weekend my dog Raul injured a paw and I started the week having to take him to the veterinarian. I decided to take Raul to Suipa (a shelter that has a vet service) because it is always a way to help the animals that are there. An official told me that there are 8 thousand dogs in the shelter, and I am not accounting the cats ... The place is ugly and looks poor, but at least the animals are not on the street exposed to all hazards. There were several dogs in the waiting room to meet the veterinarian. At the entrance two huge rottweilers, a pointer, two poodles, one akita puppy (so cute), a beautiful golden cocker spaniel, a weimaraner, a German shepherd and a few other dogs. So, the clients were very diverse. I spent a lot less than if it had gone in a private clinic.
In t he very next day, I had to take my cat Palito to be neutered. On Friday 15th, I had scheduled the surgery in City Hall. It is a free service. I want to get my 6 cats neutered. The worst thing is to let the cat with no food or water for 12 hours before the surgery. I hate this part. Palito was stressed in his box on the way, but the surgery was quick and soon we returned home.
To get the cat neutered is important because it prevents the overpopulation of cats. Prevents that a lot of kittens be abandoned in the streets, squares and cemeteries. Moreover, the animals become calm, stop marking territory (pee making in all) and I heard that it also prevents the cancer.
My first neutered cat died shortly after surgery. Her name was Sparta. I was very saddened by her death. It seems that the problem was her kidneys. Sparta was the most sweet thing that already existed. So, I was very afraid to get Palito neutered, but thank God everything was fine.
Next days, I had to take care about Raul and Palito giving medicine to both of them in the right hour, which is not easy because they just don’t want me to do that. Beyond that I had to get my job done and those things that I have to do every week as bank and supermarket...
Now it seems that the worst is over and the cats are quiet.
This is me and my cat Miúdo (means small). He disappeared in February 2009. It was a very busy day in my home and my street. I don’t know if he was scared, hid himself and got lost or if someone took him. I keep this picture in remembrance.
Eu adoro animais e tenho 6 gatos e 1 cachorro. Todos eles são muito apegados a mim. Eles estão sempre em volta de mim. Leon é o gato mais velho. Ele é tímido, quieto e reservado.
I love pets and I have 6 cats and 1 dog. They are all very attached to me. They are always around me. Leon is the oldest cat. He is shy, quiet and reserved.

Preto (means black) is a very special cat. He is very affectionate and likes to get love too. Every day he jumps on my lap and that means I have to spend at least a half hour fondling him.

******************
Carlitos (means C.Chaplin character) like more of my dog than me! I usually say that Carlitos is the cat of my dog. Carlitos is a brave cat and even tough. He doesn't like that anyone comes close to his territory.

********
Palito (means "stick") is the most annoying cat in the world. He has to touch everything, jumps up the furniture and goes in places higher than on, knocks down all objects that he can and do all sorts of mischief. Whenever I leave, he enters the car and want to go too!

William Wallace has got this name because he has half his face black and half white, like Mel Gibson character in the movie Braveheart. Moreover, this cat is a hero. He was abandoned on the street and was very dirty and almost dead when I found him. Now he is strong and beautiful! In this picture, William Wallace and my cocker spaniel Raul (who is blind) are together as good friends.

A Pretinha (única menina do time) ainda é um bebê.

Pretinha (the only girl of the team - her name means "black") is still a baby. My neighbor found her abandoned inside a cardboard box. Your eyes were still closed and she had not start walking. My neighbor has a pitt bull who doesn’t like cats, so Pretinha stayed in my home. She had to be fed first with a syringe and then with a nursing bottle.

In 2008, I took about 20 cats and poodle off the streets and led to adoption. Almost all adoptions were successful. I am very sad when I see the abandonment of animals in big cities. It is a cruelty. The animals also feel pain, hunger, thirst and fear.
